Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/Tele

Job Details:

• 12-hour evening shifts from 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM
• 40 hours per week / 32 hours per week rotating schedule
• Rotating weekends and holidays with every other weekend and every other holiday requirements
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Float required to other adult medical/surgical nursing units
• 29-bed unit with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4-5 on days and 1:5-6 on nights
• Nursing assistants on unit with varying ratios by shift; RNs carry additional responsibility for vital signs and ADLs during evening and overnight hours
• Care for patients with diagnoses including orthopedic trauma, vascular conditions, urology, neuro-spine, OB/GYN oncology, and acute medical admissions
• Required to titrate drips following prescribed nomogram including heparin, nitro, Bivalirudin, Cardizem, and insulin
• Telemetry techs monitor patients 24/7; RNs are not required to read their own strips
• Equipment used includes CPAP, BiPAP, and high flow oxygen therapy; no ventilators; respiratory therapy support is present
• Charge nurse on all shifts takes an assignment; house supervisor present on all shifts
• No self-scheduling; block scheduling utilized based on staffing needs
• Charting system: Cerner
• Scrub color: Any color, clean and professional
• Orientation includes 1 day of computer training and 1-2 days of precepted floor orientation
• Minimum 1-2 years of acute care nursing experience required
• Required certification: BLS (AHA)
• Trauma Level 2 facility
• Candidates must clock in and out at the facility

This acute care medical center operates a Med Surg/Telemetry unit with a focus on orthopedic trauma, vascular, urology, neuro-spine, and oncology patient populations. The facility is a Level 2 Trauma Center offering comprehensive inpatient care with strong interdisciplinary support including respiratory therapy, telemetry monitoring technicians, charge nurses, and house supervisors on every shift. The organization maintains structured scheduling practices and a well-supported clinical environment to ensure high-quality patient care.
