Opportunity:

RN - ICU

Job Details:

• Minimum 2 years of ICU RN experience required
• First-time travelers are accepted
• Patient ratio of 1:1-2 (rarely 1:3)
• Care for medical ICU patients with common diagnoses including respiratory failure, renal failure, sepsis, GI bleed, DKA, hypotension, hypertension, stroke, pneumonia, cancer, ARDS, and overdoses
• Manage chronic ventilators and chronic trach patients
• Monitor and manage hemodynamically unstable patients requiring invasive monitoring and/or close observation
• Required skills include trach care, chest tube management, PIV starts, glucommander, insulin drips, heparin drips, and drips titrated to HR and BP
• Management of vasoactive medications required
• Monitor and manage invasive lines including arterial lines, central venous lines, pulse oximetry, and intracranial pressure monitoring
• Assist with and manage a variety of bedside procedures including chest tube placement and management, tracheostomy, and PEG tube placement
• Experience with TABLO required
• Manage patients on ventilator support
• EMR system: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Medication dispensing: Pyxis
• Monitors: Phillips
• Unit-specific equipment includes VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips, Belmont Rapid Infuser, TABLO, PCA pain management, SCDs, and cooling and heating blankets/devices
• May float to all adult ICU units in house including PCU
• Required certifications: NIHSS, BLS, and ACLS
• CCRN (critical care nursing certification) preferred but not required
• Scrub color: Navy

Facility:

This large acute care facility features 637 licensed beds and holds a Level 1 Trauma Designation, serving as a teaching hospital with specialized centers including a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center. The ICU unit consists of 14 beds and is supported around the clock by respiratory therapists, hospitalists, and intensivists. The unit maintains a strong team-oriented culture with comprehensive support staff including CNAs, unit secretaries, a central telemetry unit, a PICC team, discharge nurses, and a resource team that floats to all units.
