Opportunity:

RN - MedSurg

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts with the option to work 36 hours per week
• Every other weekend and every other holiday required
• No on-call or standby requirements
• Department: 4N PCU/MS
• Unit has 29 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4 on days and 1:6 on nights
• Common patient diagnoses include abdominal surgeries, ear/nose/throat surgeries, complex wounds, and general medical cases
• Required skills include IVs, drains, ostomies, wound vacs, NG tubes, Foley catheters, and electronic health record proficiency
• Intermediate care background required
• RNs required to titrate drips including Heparin and infrequently insulin, diltiazem, amiodarone, and nitro
• Telemetry monitoring supported by monitor techs; RNs are not required to read their own strips
• Charge nurse takes a smaller assignment; agency staff not required to work in a charge role
• Nurse aide support available with ratios of 1:8 on days and 1:14 on nights
• Equipment includes CPAP, BiPAP, Vapotherm, and occasional tracheostomy; no ventilators
• Float rotation to other med/surg units possible if unit is overstaffed
• Scrubs of any color acceptable
• Orientation includes 12 hours of computer training and 12 hours of shadowing
• Charting system: Cerner
• Required certifications: BLS (AHA); ACLS preferred
• BSN not required
• Trauma Level 2, Acute Care setting

Facility:

This is a Level 2 Trauma acute care facility offering a wide range of medical and surgical services. The medical-surgical unit is a progressive care environment supporting complex patient populations including post-surgical and general medical cases. The facility utilizes Cerner for electronic health records and provides a collaborative team environment with dedicated charge nurses, monitor technicians, and nurse aide support to ensure quality patient care.
