Opportunity:
RN - Labor and Delivery
Job Details:
• Work 12-hour shifts, either 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Schedule cycles every 6 weeks with 5-6 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• No on-call responsibilities
• Holiday expectations include working one shift of each major holiday (Thanksgiving Day or day after, 12/24 or 12/25, and 12/31 or 1/1)
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery RN experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Care for laboring patients, antepartum patients, triage patients, PACU, and OR cases
• Follow AWHONN guidelines for patient ratios
• Strong clinical assessment and L&D skills required for Level 1 Trauma Hospital setting
• Perform IV insertion and care, central line management, and care coordination with interdisciplinary teams
• May float to all adult med/surg and telemetry units within the facility
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring
• Basic Cardiac Rhythm (BCR) competency required - traveler will be required to pass an EKG competency exam as part of compliance
• EMR system: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris; Medication dispensing: Pyxis; Monitors: Philips
• Additional equipment includes VS3 vital sign monitors, portable vital signs monitors (Dynamap), PCA pain management, bladder scanners, portable oxygen system, Glucommander, and suction machines
• Scrub color: Navy for RN; surgical green with scrub exchange system for L&D
• Free parking available around campus
Facility:
This facility is a 637-licensed-bed teaching hospital holding a Level 1 Trauma Designation and housing specialized centers including a Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center. The Labor & Delivery unit features 9 labor beds, 3 ORs, 4 PACUs, 11 antepartum beds, 4 triage beds, and 27 postpartum beds. The unit is supported by OB surgeons, hospitalists, intensivists, and OB physicians available 24/7, along with respiratory therapy, a PICC team, CNAs, and unit secretaries. The unit is described as a busy, team-oriented environment with bedside and nursing station telemetry and fetal monitoring capabilities.
