Opportunity:
RN - Labor and Delivery
Job Details:
• Provide labor and delivery and postpartum nursing care including vaginal and C-section deliveries, and occasional overflow hysterectomies
• Minimum 2 years of postpartum RN experience required
• First-time travelers are welcome
• Patient ratio of 1:3-4 couplets with 2-3 CNAs per shift
• Required certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support), BCR (Basic Cardiac Rhythm - must pass EKG competency exam), ACLS, NRP, and Fetal Monitoring
• Strong clinical assessment and Mother Baby skills required for Level 1 Trauma Hospital setting
• Proficiency in IV insertion and care, central line management, and care coordination with interdisciplinary teams required
• Work with EMR system: EPIC
• Operate IV pumps (Alaris), medication dispensing (Pyxis), and Phillips monitors
• Use unit-specific equipment including VS3 vital sign monitors, Nova Glucose Stat Strips, cardiac telemetry monitoring, portable vital signs monitors (Dynamapp), PCA pain management, bladder scanners, portable oxygen system, Glucommander, and suction machines
• Support staff available including CNAs, unit secretary (7:00 AM - 11:00 PM), charge nurse, PICC team, resource and discharge nurses, respiratory therapy (24/7), hospitalist (24/7), intensivist (24/7), and central telemetry unit
• May be required to float to all adult med/surg and telemetry units in the facility
• Scrub color: L&D surgical green with scrub exchange system

This facility is a large teaching hospital with 637 licensed beds and holds a Level 1 Trauma Designation. The facility features a dedicated Chest Pain Center and Stroke Center, providing comprehensive specialty care services. The labor and delivery unit operates within a busy but collaborative team environment, supported by a robust interdisciplinary team available around the clock.
