Opportunity:

RN - ER

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts with day and night options available
• Weekend rotation every other weekend required
• No on-call responsibilities
• Holiday rotation required: Summer - 2 of 3 holidays (Memorial Day, Labor Day, July 4th); Winter - 1 from each group (Thanksgiving Day or day after), (Christmas Eve or Christmas Day), (New Year's Eve or New Year's Day)
• Block scheduling will not be accommodated
• Time off requests up to one week may be approved
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6 RN (days/nights), acuity based
• Care for Medical-Surgical, Telemetry, Observation, Post cardiac cath (radial and femoral), appendectomies, colectomies, CHF, PNA, Sepsis, and abdominal pain patients
• Required skills: Read/interpret strips, cardiac drips (non-titrating), MSU skillset, wound care, and IV starts
• Charting system: EPIC; Equipment: Pyxis and Alaris
• May be required to float to other MSU/Telemetry floors, travelers float first
• Scrub color: Navy
• No artificial fingernails or extenders during direct patient care; natural nail tips must be kept less than ¼ inch long
• Minimum 2 years of experience required
• First-time travelers accepted
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Facility:

This 231-bed teaching hospital is located approximately 30 minutes from Chicago and operates without a trauma designation. The facility offers robust unit support including in-house hospitalists, respiratory therapy, a centralized telemetry monitor with telemetry technicians, a phlebotomy team, an IV/VAT team for complex vascular access needs, and a resource nurse available at night. Additional support services including occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech therapy are available during the week.
