Opportunity:

RN - Correctional Facility Nurse

Job Details:

• Work a combination of two 8-hour shifts and two 12-hour shifts per week
• Shifts will vary between 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM
• Every other weekend required
• Holidays as necessary
• 26-week assignment
• Work in a highly autonomous setting where a provider is not always on-site
• Assess patient conditions utilizing the nursing process to ensure appropriate management of acute and chronic diseases or terminal conditions
• Monitor and report observed reactions to treatments or medications and changes in patient physical or mental health
• Administer medications adhering to medication rights for patient safety
• Complete medication refills per provider orders and established procedures
• Accurately and timely transcribe provider orders
• Assess signs and symptoms of patients reporting health concerns and implement appropriate care interventions based on assessment outcomes
• Treat conditions within the scope of nursing practice utilizing established nursing protocols
• Complete point of care sample collection including phlebotomy
• Administer vaccines and other IM/SubQ medications
• Lead emergency response and implement appropriate interventions for patients experiencing physiological distress in alignment with BLS standards
• Delegate and oversee tasks to both licensed and unlicensed personnel per licensure and scope of practice
• Accurately and completely document all patient care and encounters within an electronic healthcare record
• Provide patient education regarding medications, medical diagnoses, and interventions while promoting engagement in individual plan of care

The facility operates with a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, supporting both acute and chronic disease management alongside mental health needs. Nursing staff play a critical and autonomous role in delivering quality care, working within established protocols and collaborating with on-site and remote providers to ensure patient safety and well-being.
