Opportunity:

RN - Med Surg/Tele

Job Details:

• 12-hour shifts available for both day shift (7:00 AM - 7:00 PM) and night shift (7:00 PM - 7:00 AM)
• Weekend rotation required every other weekend, including Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
• Holiday requirements: 2 out of 3 holidays
• Opportunity/potential to be placed on call or standby
• Must be able to float to like units and patients
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 5:1 on day shift, 6:1 at 11:00 PM; team nursing with LPNs at 2:7 ratios
• 24-bed inpatient unit with capacity for up to 10 observation/day surgery patients
• Common diagnoses include NHP, cellulitis, UTI, COPD, GU, pacemaker, sepsis, nursing home placements, and day surgical cases including orthopedic (hips and knees), cholecystectomies, appendectomies, and TURPS-CBI
• Must be comfortable with IV starts as there is no IV team on site
• Basic telemetry arrhythmia knowledge required; physical monitor located at nurses' desk with telemetry readings done in ICU daily
• RT available 24/7 with CPAP equipment; RT oversees the entire hospital
• Hospitalist available on site until 6:00 PM daily, then telemedicine utilized
• Charge nurse takes an assignment; travelers may be placed as relief charge nurse
• Nurse aides available on the unit
• RNs are not required to titrate drips
• Minimum 1 year of Med/Surg or Med/Surg Telemetry experience required (acute care experience)
• Preferred experience with TURPS-CBI procedures
• Preferred experience in Critical Access or Trauma Level 3 or 4 facilities
• Solid professional scrub attire required; no specific color requirement
• Required certification: BLS (AHA); ACLS preferred
• Orientation: Day 1 includes 8-hour computer education followed by 4 hours of shadowing; Day 2 is a 12-hour orientation shift; Day 3 provider is on their own
• All clinicians must clock in and out at the facility

This acute care facility operates as a Trauma Level 4 hospital serving its regional community with a comprehensive range of inpatient medical and surgical services. The facility features a Med/Tele unit, ICU, and surgical department while utilizing telemedicine to extend specialist coverage beyond standard hours. The organization emphasizes collaborative team nursing and supports staff through available respiratory therapy, hospitalist coverage, and nurse aide assistance across the facility.
