Job Summary:
The healthcare organization is seeking a Step Down Unit Nurse for a night shift position located in Saint Louis, Missouri. This role involves providing specialized care within a high-acuity step-down unit, requiring expertise in managing ventilated patients, titrating pressor medications, and administering insulin drips. Candidates must hold a valid license and bring their license on the first day of the assignment. The position offers an opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, supporting patients transitioning from intensive care to less acute settings.

Job Details:

• Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
• Shift: Nights, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
• Schedule: Night shifts (specific days based on rotation), with two weekend shifts every other week (Saturday and Sunday or Friday/Saturday) required.
• Required Qualifications: Valid license (pending license accepted), at least 2 years of nursing experience in a high-acuity setting, experience managing ventilated patients, titration of pressors (such as Levophed, Nicardipine), and insulin drips. Certifications required include ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) EPIC and prior work in critical care or step-down units.
• Additional Information: Proficiency in arterial line management, ventilator management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry interpretation, and managing complex procedures such as chest tubes, trach vented patients, and Vasoactive drips is essential. Candidates must have been at the bedside within the past 6 months. This role involves managing patients with cerebrovascular accidents, post-cardiac procedures, renal failure, seizure disorders, and spinal cord injuries. Experience with high-acuity patient care, including ICU experience, is preferred.
• Float: Float to floors that are lower acuity may be required.
