Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Floor Nurse in Evansville, Indiana. This position involves providing comprehensive care to a diverse patient population, including post-surgical, UTI, sepsis, high fall risk, COPD, and CHF patients. The role requires adapting to a fast-paced environment with a focus on assessment and critical thinking skills, working primarily during night shifts.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Must have a current active compact license, AHA Basic Life Support (BLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS). A minimum of 2 years of strong Medical-Surgical experience, including at least one travel assignment and trauma level II experience. Recent EPIC charting experience is required, with a checkoff class anticipated.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience handling chest tubes, NG/PEG tubes, straight catheter/Foley, ostomies, Heparin drips, blood and blood product administration, tracheostomy care, and PCA management. Strong assessment and critical thinking skills are essential.
• Float: First to float within skillset. Cross-campus float to nearby facilities with a 2-hour notice.
• Additional Information: The unit has 41 beds with a patient ratio of approximately 1:4 to 1:7 depending on shift; features experienced leadership and CNA support. Willingness to precept students and new hires may be required. No COVID-19 vaccine is currently required.
