Job Summary
Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) position available in Madison, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized, family-centered care to critically ill or injured pediatric patients in a state-of-the-art 21-bed unit. Candidates are required to bring their Wisconsin Registered Nurse license or a compact license on the first day of employment. The position involves 12-hour rotating shifts with both day and night options, working Monday through Friday with every other weekend and some holidays.
Job Details
- Location: Madison, Wisconsin
- Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts (day shifts: 7:00 am - 7:30 pm; night shifts: 7:30 pm - 7:00 am) with a minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license or compact RN license, American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, minimum of two years of recent acute care experience in the specialty within the last three years, strong Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) experience, and at least one year of cardiovascular (CV) experience. EPIC (Electronic Health Record) experience is required. Must pass telemetry test prior to start.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a high acuity hospital, Level II trauma experience or extensive level II, with preference for CV experience over Level I trauma experience.
- Additional Information:
- Must pass strict telemetry exam with attempts allowed; failure after three attempts necessitates submission of additional certification or results in cancellation of the assignment.
- Traveler will be required to float as needed.
- Candidate with strong level II experience may be considered, and first-time travelers are allowed if they meet the experience criteria.
- The unit cares for neonatal, adolescent, infant, and pediatric patients, with diagnoses including cardiac, respiratory, neuro/neurosurgical issues, and more.
- The unit includes support from multidisciplinary teams such as respiratory, radiology, social services, and pharmacy.
- Must provide care for patients with complex medical needs, including ECMO, CRRT, VAD, and other specialized procedures.
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, working both days and nights on a rotating basis, with scheduled orientation hours of 36.
