Description
Job Summary:
A registered nurse specializing in medical-surgical (MS) units is needed in Monterey, California. The position involves providing direct patient care for adult and pediatric patients within a 20-bed unit featuring private rooms. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. This role requires familiarity with various medical conditions and a commitment to delivering safe, efficient care.
Job Details:
- Location: Monterey, California
- Specialty: Medical-Surgical (MS)
- Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license; at least 2 years of clinical experience; BLS (AHA) certification; PALS certification; experience with adult and pediatric patient populations; EMR experience with EPIC system; ability to float to other med-surg units when needed
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience caring for patients with RSV, Croup, Bronchiolitis, pneumonia, gastrointestinal issues, post-operative care, womens health, adolescents, alcohol withdrawal, dementia, ENT procedures, appendectomy, cholecystectomy, urosepsis, plastic surgeries, SBO, bowel resections
- Additional Information: The unit has a charge nurse on each shift who takes a patient load of 2-3 patients. CNAs are used on the PM and NOC shifts, supporting patient care. The facility is a nicotine-free environment, requiring all drug reports to show a negative nicotine/cotinine result unless a nicotine patch is prescribed. The unit does not have telemetry or vents, but offers continuous respiratory monitors and mobile HFNC for adults. RT and pharmacy services are available 24/7. Travel candidates can expect 3-4 shifts of orientation with a preceptor and will only float to other med-surg units.
