Description
Job Summary:
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) registered nurse (RN) position is located in Charlotte, North Carolina. This role involves providing specialized care in a Level 4 NICU at a teaching hospital. Candidates are required to bring their nursing license on the first day of assignment. The position offers night shifts, with a schedule cycle every six weeks, and requires 36 hours per week.
Job Details:
- Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts (0645-1915 and 1845-0715) every 6 weeks, with required weekend rotation including 2 Fridays and 2 Mondays, plus every other weekend
- Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN) license, BLS (Basic Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), 2 years of strong Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU experience, EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) experience, with competence in managing critical care vasoactive drips, invasive lines, ventilators, and ECMO support
- Preferred Qualifications: Trauma Level 4 NICU experience, teaching hospital experience
- Float: Neonatal Pediatric Care Unit, General Pediatric units as needed, based on prior experience and unit requirements
- Additional Information:
- Patient ratios vary based on acuity: 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3
- Support staff includes unit secretary, charge nurse, 24/7 IV/VAT/PCVC team, resource nurse, intensivist, residents, in-house advanced practice provider, telemonitoring, and unit educators
- Equipment and technology include EPIC EMR, Alaris and Medfusion syringe pumps, Phillips monitors, PIV ultrasound, Tecotherm, MOMs breast milk scanning, and POCUS devices
- Orientation: 2 days of departmental orientation
- Holiday coverage: Work holidays as scheduled, including holiday eve, day after, and day of holiday every other holiday
- Scrubs: Navy or white solid colors, no tight scrubs or organizational branded attire
- Practice guidelines include Bare Below Elbow in nurseries (no watches, jewelry, artificial nails)
- Parking: Free
