Description

Job Summary:
Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse in Norfolk, Virginia. This position involves providing specialized inpatient care to pediatric oncology patients, including administering chemotherapy, blood components, and supportive treatments. Candidates are required to bring their nursing license on the first day of orientation.

Job Details:

  • Location: Norfolk, Virginia
  • Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: 18 months of experience in an acute and chronic care setting; solid oncology experience; APHON Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Status with Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Basic Life Support (BLS) certifications; flu vaccination required, no exemptions
  • Specialty: Pediatric Hematology Oncology (PEDS ONC)
  • Experience: 18 months of experience in an acute and chronic care setting with solid oncology background; appropriate certifications
  • Additional Information: The inpatient HemOnc unit has a 16-bed capacity, with patient to nurse ratios typically at 3:1, potentially fluctuating to 4:1 for medical/surgical patients. A charge Registered Nurse (RN) and team lead RN assist with high alert drugs, procedures, and patient transportation. Nursing Care Partners perform assistant tasks.
