Description

Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Float Position located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This role involves providing general medical-surgical nursing care within large hospital settings, managing a diverse patient population with varying diagnoses. Candidates are required to bring their nursing license on the first day.

Job Details:

  • Specialty: Medical Surgical Float Position
  • Shift: Nights, 12-hour shifts, with 3 weekend shifts in every 4 weeks
  • Schedule: Shift Time: Nights; Shift Hours: 12; Minimum Hours Per Week: 36.0
  • Required Qualifications: Candidates must have at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2, or tertiary experience, at least 1 year of MedSurg experience at a large hospital with over 600 beds, an IN state or compact RN license (valid as of 7/1/20), and BLS certification through the American Heart Association.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience with assessments, care planning, inter-professional communication, utilizing electronic health records, IV pumps, wound vacs, heat/cooling pads, feeding pumps, feeding tubes, chest tubes, and managing heparin and insulin drips. Equipment familiarity with Epic electronic records, pyxis machines, Accucheck blood glucose meters, Hospira IV pumps, and telemetry monitoring is also preferred.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required to other medical units.
  • Additional Information: Client may call off or cancel up to 24 hours for each 13-week assignment. Orientation includes 1 day of general hospital orientation, approximately 5 days of nursing orientation, and Epic classes. Candidate must adhere to dress code of Caribbean Blue scrubs and work within patient ratios of 1:5-6.
  • Certifications: BLS (AHA) required.
  • Start Date: 06/15/2026.
