Description

Job Summary:
The assignment is for a Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a facility located in Kearney, Nebraska. This position requires candidates to bring their license on the first day and involves caring for adult patients with various diagnoses including cardiac, dialysis, cancer, vascular, sepsis, respiratory issues, stroke, and post-procedural care. The role demands flexibility, good communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a diverse patient population. Candidates must be competent in Arterial Lines and willing to learn and adapt to unit protocols.

Job Details:

  • Location: Kearney, Nebraska
  • Certifications Required: BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale)
  • Education/Experience: RN license; minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; experience in cardiac med/surg, dialysis, or vascular preferred.
  • Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours (1830-0630), minimum of 48 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: RN license; valid drivers license; BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications; 2 years of experience.
  • Additional Information:
    • RTO (Request for Time Off) must be submitted upfront, with 7 or fewer days needed within the 13-week contract.
    • Floating to MedSurg or ICU may be required to cover PCU patients.
    • Scrub color is navy blue.
    • Orientation includes 1 day of unit-specific training.
    • Cancellation up to 4 shifts per assignment is allowed by the hospital.
    • Mandatory holidays include at least two within the contract timeframe.
    • Shift notes and operational protocols include handling high-flow oxygen and titratable drips such as Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and Insulin.
    • RNs are responsible for interpreting telemetry strips and monitoring electronic fetal heart monitors (if applicable).
    • The unit maintains a patient-to-nurse ratio of approximately 1:4-5 on days and nights, with additional staff support like nurse aides and patient care techs.
