Job Summary:
The organization is seeking a Medical Surgical (MS) Registered Nurse (RN) for a night shift position at a healthcare facility located in Evansville, Indiana. The role involves providing specialized care to post-surgical patients across a variety of procedures including Whipple, vascular, heart caths, bariatric, ENT, and podiatry. The RN will be responsible for performing advanced assessments, managing complex procedures such as chest tubes, blood product administration, wound care, and pre/post heart cath interventions, while demonstrating critical thinking and resilience in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Active compact nursing license, current AHA BLS and NIHSS certifications, and two years of strong medical-surgical experience. Minimum of one travel assignment and trauma level II experience preferred. Recent EPIC charting experience required, with a checkoff class needed.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience with PIV insertion, chest tube/indwelling drain management, CBI, stable drips (heparin, Lasix, Protonix), epidural management, ostomy care, blood product administration, tele interpretation, wound care including packing, wound vacs, dressing changes, and pre/post heart cath procedures.
• Shift and Hours: 12-hour night shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with a guaranteed minimum of 36 hours weekly, anticipate up to 48 hours upon request.
• Float Requirements: First to float within skill set within designated campuses; cross-campus float possible with 2 hours' notice.
• On-Call/Back: Not applicable.
• Weekend and Holiday Requirements: Three weekends every six weeks, and every other holiday.
• Additional Information: The unit comprises 41 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:5 to 1:7 depending on shift. Unit culture emphasizes teamwork and celebrations, and nurses will be expected to potentially precept students and new hires.
