Job Summary
A Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) registered nurse is needed in Fort Wayne, Indiana. This position involves providing specialized care to pediatric patients between the ages of 3 days and 18 years, including those with complex surgical conditions, respiratory issues, traumas, and other critical needs. Candidates must be licensed as a registered nurse and bring their license on the first day of assignment.

Job Details

  • Location: Fort Wayne, Indiana
  • Specialty: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
  • Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts per week, days from 3:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications:
    • Two or more years of experience in pediatric and pediatric intensive care unit settings, with experience in a facility of 400+ beds and similar acuity (Level 2 trauma) required
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through the American Heart Association
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification through the American Heart Association
    • Compact or Indiana RN license and EPIC electronic medical record system experience
    • IV skills are a plus
    • Experience in a facility with high acuity and trauma level is required
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience with EPIC EMR system
    • Experience with IV procedures
  • Additional Information:
    • Will float to areas like Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) when needed
    • Nurse to patient ratio of 1:4 in pediatrics and 1:2 in PICU
    • Dress code: Caribbean blue scrubs
    • Orientation includes standard traveler orientation followed by 24 hours on the floor with a preceptor
    • Up to 24 hours of cancellation notice per 13-week contract
    • Charting system: EPIC
    • No BSN required; license submission is required
    • Trauma Level: Level 2 trauma
    • Shift notes: 3 am 3 pm
