Job Summary
The organization is seeking a Cardiovascular Short Stay Unit (PACU - Post Anesthesia Care Unit) Registered Nurse (RN) in Orange, California. This position involves providing specialized post-anesthesia care to patients recovering from cardiovascular procedures. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. The role requires a minimum of two years of relevant experience and entails working a 10-hour shift schedule, with variable start times between 0700 and 1000.
Job Details
- Position: PACU RN - Cardiovascular Short Stay Unit
- Location: Orange, California
- Schedule: 4x10-hour shifts, mids, variable start times between 0700 and 1000, minimum 40 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid California RN license in hand; minimum 2 years of PACU or cardiovascular acute care experience; certifications in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS); previous experience with Epic electronic medical record system; minimum 3 years of total nursing experience; experience with community hospital settings and travel preferred.
- Preferred Qualifications: Previous charge nurse experience, community hospital experience.
- Additional Information: Candidates must have prior travel experience. The facility offers the ability to call off once per pay period (every two weeks). No first-time travelers accepted, and no weekend shifts required. Candidates must disclose license and background check results upfront; open license hits are not approved. A commitment to working three out of five holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day) is required.
- Patient Care Details: Care for adult and geriatric patients with diagnoses including CHF, DM, AFib, ESRD, chest pain, cancer, obesity, shortness of breath, and specific cardiac procedures like Right/Left Heart Catheterization, TAVR, ablation, and more. Nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:2 in Phase I PACU and 1:3 in Phase II Recovery.
- Procedures and Equipment: Providing post-operative care for various cardiac and vascular procedures, including airway management, medication reconciliation, sheaths removal, and starting/maintaining IVs.
- Other Requirements: Vaccinations including COVID-19 and Flu are not required; LA Fire Card within the last 30 days is mandatory. Valid California RN license is required at the time of submission. Two references covering the last year are required.
- Additional Notes: No first-timers accepted; no weekend shifts; must be willing to float within the facility if needed; candidates must respond to specific screening questions at submission.
