Description
Job Summary: Omaha, NE Step Down Unit RN (Oncology/PCU/Med-Surg) The organization is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) to support a mixed patient care unit providing Step Down Unit services, including Oncology and PCU care alongside Med-Surg patient needs. Responsibilities include delivering direct patient care on a 12-hour day schedule, supporting titration and monitoring of specific therapies, and performing hourly rounding. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour day shifts (7:00 a.m.7:00 p.m., 7:00 a.m.3:00 p.m., 3:00 p.m.7:00 p.m., 7:00 p.m.11:00 p.m., 11:00 p.m.7:00 a.m., and 7:00 p.m.7:00 a.m.); minimum of 36 hours per week; every other weekend; self-scheduling
- Required Qualifications: Valid RN license to submit; Basic Life Support (BLS) (American Heart Association (AHA)); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (American Heart Association (AHA)); oncology nursing certification as listed (ONS/ONCC); completion of at least 0 years of minimum experience (as specified); drivers license required at time of submission
- Preferred Qualifications: Oncology nursing experience; PCU experience; Chemistry/Oncology certification (chemo certification preferred)
- Responsibilities:
- Provide care for Oncology and trauma patient populations within a PCU/Oncology/Med-Surg setting
- Perform required nursing care including hourly rounding
- Titrate medications/therapies as needed (including insulin occasionally and cardizem)
- Support ventilator and hemodynamic monitoring (e.g., CVP, A-line, Swan-Ganz, EV-1000 as applicable)
- Support ICP-related care/monitoring (training can be provided in real time, as applicable)
- Certifications: Required certifications include ACLS and BLS (American Heart Association (AHA)); ONS/ONCC
- Onboarding/Training: Orientation includes 2 days; unit includes a pass/fail exam during orientation with an open-book format for skills learned (passing threshold applies)
- Unit/Clinical Support Context: Typical patient ratio on days is 1 RN to 4 PCU patients and 1 RN to 5 Med-Surg patients (night ratios are described separately as 1 RN to 56 patients); some float may be required within the same level of care
