Job Summary:
The Operating Room First Assistant (ORFA) registered nurse is based in Bakersfield, California. This role involves organizing and facilitating patient care during surgical procedures, functioning as a first assistant, and collaborating with the surgical team to ensure optimal outcomes. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day of employment.

Job Details:

  • Location: Bakersfield, California
  • Shift Schedule: 10-hour mid shift, 06:30 AM to 05:00 PM. Call schedule includes working until at least 11:00 PM at least one weekday per week and at least one continuous weekend (Friday-Monday, starting at 6:30 AM) every 6 weeks.
  • Required Qualifications: Completion of an RN First Assist (RNFA) program meeting Association of perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN) standards; two years' perioperative nursing experience preferred; valid Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in California; Certified Registered Nurse First Assistant (CRNFA) certification; Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification from an approved vendor; Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor; Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) certification.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a surgical first assistant; Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Status (PEARS) or Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification; membership in the Association of perioperative Registered Nurses (AORN).
  • Additional information: The role requires adherence to strict clinical and operational standards, including maintaining sterile fields, supporting surgical procedures, and mentoring staff. All candidates must be vaccinated as a condition of employment.
