Job Summary
A registered nurse specializing in Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) is needed at a healthcare facility in Madison, Wisconsin. This position involves providing advanced care for patients undergoing complex cardiac and thoracic surgeries, transplants, and medical procedures. Candidates are required to bring their licensure on the first day. The role involves working with state-of-the-art equipment and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care.

Job Details

  • Location: Madison, WI
  • Specialty Name: ICU Cardiovascular
  • Shift Hours: 12-hour rotating shifts (0700-1930 or 1900-0730), working day/night with every other weekend and some holidays; no call required.
  • Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
  • Required Qualifications: Must hold a Wisconsin RN license, with at least 2 years of recent acute care experience in cardiovascular or ICU settings. Certifications required include Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS). Previous charge nurse experience and travel experience are required. Knowledge of the Epic charting system and trauma level I experience are preferred.
  • Certifications: ACLS, BLS, WI or compact RN license
  • Experience: 2 years of recent acute care experience in ICU or cardiovascular care, including telemetry interpretation and complex patient management.
  • Additional Information: Experience with managing invasive lines such as Ports, Arterial lines, and Central Venous Pressures (CVP), as well as cardiac procedures like CABG or TAVR, is essential. Nurses will care for adult and geriatric patients, with a patient census of approximately 26 per day. The unit involves handling high-acuity patients and requires flexibility, including floating as needed. Previous charge experience and travel experience are mandatory.
  • Travel Requirements: Yes, must have recent travel experience.
  • Patient Ratio: 2-3 patients per nurse, with a focus on complex cardiac cases.
  • Orientation Hours: 24 hours
  • Additional Notes: Prior to start, travelers must pass a telemetry interpretation exam with a score of 80% or higher, with two attempts allowed. Certification of completion for cardiac interpretation review courses is acceptable if exam attempts are unsuccessful.
