Description
Job Summary
Emergency Room Nurse Franklin, Indiana. This acute care position involves working in a high-volume Emergency Department with 26 beds and three trauma bays. The role includes managing diverse patient cases such as chest pain, altered mental status, stroke, and pediatric to geriatric patients, with a focus on providing quality emergency care in a fast-paced environment. The shift schedule consists of 12-hour nights, with a minimum commitment of 36 hours per week.
Job Details
- Location: Franklin, Indiana
- Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, minimum 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Certifications including BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale); minimum of 2 years recent Emergency Department experience; valid license to submit.
- Preferred Qualifications: TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) and ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) certifications are preferred.
- Unit Notes:
- 26 beds with 3 trauma bays and a treatment area with 4 beds
- No separate triage or holding area; patients are triaged within the department
- In-house security available 24/7
- Approximately 60 patients per day with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4
- Use of Cerner electronic medical record system
- RT staff available 24/7 for breathing treatments and ABGs; telemonitoring with nurses reading strips
- Close to ER for lab transport; nursing staff conducts 90% of phlebotomy and nurse draws
- Staffing includes MDs, DOs, PAs, NPs, charge nurses, house supervisors, medics, PCTs, and patient sitters
- Float may be required; most floats to be sitters or PCTs
- Dress code: Navy Blue scrubs; no facial piercings, gauges, or inappropriate tattoos
- Orientation includes 1-2 shifts with a preceptor
- Must be punctual and fully committed to the contract; upfront RTO requests only
- No call or standby requirement; weekend every 3rd; holiday flexibility
