Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Registered Nurse (RN) Morristown, New Jersey
The organization is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) for a high acuity step-down unit (PAT RN). The role focuses on delivering safe, competent patient care through thorough assessments, clinical skill execution, accurate documentation, and adherence to safety and confidentiality standards. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details

• Schedule: 7p - 7a; 12 shift hours; minimum 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN) license; Basic Life Support (BLS); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS); graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (Associates or Bachelors degree)
• Preferred Qualifications: Associates or Bachelors degree
• Responsibilities:
  • Perform thorough, systematic, comprehensive, and accurate patient assessments across the continuum of care (pediatric through geriatric).
  • Provide direct patient care activities in support of patient care delivery and the team concept.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of emergency equipment and procedures relevant to patient care.
  • Maintain complete and accurate documentation, including components of the nursing process, patient progress toward outcomes, and patient education; follow documentation guidelines.
  • Demonstrate professionalism by applying policies and procedures and identifying areas for clinical and professional growth.
  • Provide courteous, professional responses to patients, families, and coworkers while promoting an environment centered on the patient and family; maintain confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
  • Follow the National Patient Safety Goals, including Universal Protocol and use of two patient identifiers; demonstrate safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics.
  • Support perioperative care by demonstrating knowledge of conditions/diagnoses, procedures, and equipment encountered for surgical patients; individualize care based on procedure and type of anesthesia across the continuum of care.
  • Assess patient reaction and understanding of procedure/instructions.
  • Prioritize and direct patient care based on patient needs and changes in condition as part of the perioperative team.
  • Assess patient understanding of surgical procedure/instructions and actively include the patient and family in teaching; complete pre-operative and post-operative assessment and education.
  • Support timely completion of patient testing by evaluating Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness and for potential omissions based on proposed surgery, patient age, and current health status.
• Additional Information: This is a high acuity step-down unit; ICU experience is required. The start date is 07/06/2026.
