Job Summary: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) Critical Care RN Duluth, Minnesota
The organization is seeking a Critical Care Registered Nurse (RN) to provide patient assessment, coordinate care, and communicate clinical changes across critical care settings. Responsibilities include supporting stroke and cardiac patient care by ensuring core measures are in place when indicated, initiating discharge planning, and recognizing abnormal diagnostic findings. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Rotating day and night shift rotation, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Associate Degree or Certificate; Active Minnesota Registered Nurse (RN) license; Basic Life Support (BLS) (American Heart Association/American Red Cross); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (BLS/American Red Cross); National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS); Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certifications preferred; Minimum of 1-year acute care experience within critical care.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Critical care experience within the past 3 years; 1 travel assignment preferred; Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) and Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) preferred certifications.
  • Responsibilities: Identifies patient condition and documents and communicates deviations from normal; posts pertinent health care team member information; identifies patient and family expectations and educational needs and communicates priorities; initiates discharge planning and ensures appropriate follow-up; incorporates information provided by others and verifies appropriate follow-up; skilled in assessment and knowledgeable of growth and development; provides appropriate care based on the ages served within the clinical environment; oversees care of stroke and/or cardiac patients while ensuring core measures are in place unless contraindicated and reports patient concerns to the physician; recognizes signs and symptoms of abuse and reports per policy; participates in purposeful nursing rounds using the 7 Ps of rounding; recognizes and reports abnormal diagnostic data; chooses correct supplies and utilizes PAR system; demonstrates resilience, manages change well, and manages independently while completing tasks timely.
  • Float: Float rotation may be required between critical care units; possible float to lower acuity units based on census and need.
  • On Call/Call Back: Can be low-censused and placed on call; call back minimum is 2 hours.
  • Weekend/Holiday Requirements: 2 out of 4 weekends; every other holiday.
  • Additional Information: Contract length is 13 weeks. Start date is ASAP (07/06/2026). For winter start dates, candidates with demonstrated contract experience in colder climates (Midwest, Northeast, Mountain regions, etc.) are preferred. Must have ACLS in hand at time of submission.
