Job Summary: Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse for a night shift position in Summit, New Jersey. This role supports perioperative nursing responsibilities, including thorough patient assessment, clinical care, documentation, and patient education throughout the surgical continuum of care. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Nights, 7p8a, 12 shift hours, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: Registered Nurse (RN) license; Basic Life Support (BLS); Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Preferred Qualifications: Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR); 1 year of relevant experience; Associates or Bachelors degree
• Responsibilities:
  • Performs systematic, comprehensive, and accurate patient assessments across the continuum of care
  • Delivers direct patient care activities in support of patient care delivery and the team concept
  • Demonstrates competent clinical skills and appropriate nursing care for the units patient population
  • Demonstrates knowledge of emergency equipment and procedures
  • Maintains complete and accurate documentation, including nursing process components, patient progress toward outcomes, and patient education
  • Practices professionally by understanding and following policies and procedures and identifying areas for clinical and professional growth
  • Supports patient and family satisfaction through professional, courteous, and positive interactions while maintaining confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines
  • Follows National Patient Safety Goals, including Universal Protocol and the use of two patient identifiers; demonstrates safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics
  • Demonstrates knowledge of surgical patient conditions/diagnoses, procedures, and equipment; individualizes care based on procedure and type of anesthesia
  • Assesses patient reaction and understanding of procedure/instructions
  • Contributes to the perioperative team by prioritizing care based on patient needs and changes in condition
  • Assesses patient understanding of surgical procedures/instructions and actively includes the patient and family in teaching; performs pre-operative and post-operative assessment and education
  • Supports timely completion of patient testing by evaluating Pre-Admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness and potential omissions based on proposed surgery, patient age, and current state of health
  • Must be able to scrub and circulate on Ortho, general, urology, and robotics cases
