Job Summary
Sterile Processing Technician (Sterile Processing Tech) San Pedro, California. The sterile processing technician is responsible for inspecting, testing, cleaning, decontaminating, and sterilizing returned reusable medical and surgical equipment, supplies, and instrumentation to ensure all parts are returned and operable. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.

Job Details

• Schedule: Evenings; Saturday through Wednesday (off Thursday and Fridays) with rotating weekends, holidays, and shifts; minimum 40 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Certification in Aseptic Technique (CBSPD)
  • IAHCSMM (IAHCSMM/HSPAS)
  • California state license must be in hand
  • 0 minimum years of experience required
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior community hospital experience
  • Trauma Level I experience
  • Trauma Level II experience
  • Charge experience
  • Knowledge of Meditech charting system experience
• Float: Float may be required between units/facilities within the state.
• Responsibilities:
  • Inspect, test, clean, decontaminate, and sterilize returned reusable equipment, supplies, and instrumentation.
  • Select appropriate cleaning agents and decontamination and sterilization processes.
  • Assemble instrumentation and supplies using count sheets, and package items in accordance with the sterilization technique to be used.
  • Ensure proper labeling and correct selection of wrapping materials.
  • Perform sterilization testing/monitoring and support sterilization equipment use as needed.
• Submission/Compliance Requirements:
  • Provide 2 references covering 1 year (6 months for CNA s) within the last 3 years during the compliance process and prior to start (references may include charge RNs/lead).
  • Disclose whether the candidate has ever worked at a Providence facility as a permanent employee, on a travel contract, or as registry/per-diem, including location and dates worked (if applicable).
  • A LA fire card within the last 30 days is required.
• On-Call: Rotating weekends/holidays/shifts call requirement is required.
• Additional Information:
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 holidays (Thanksgiving, Xmas Eve, Xmas Day, NYE, NYD).
