Job Summary
Step Down (Step Down Unit) Registered Nurse (RN) Nights, Henderson, KY. This role supports care delivery in a stepdown/telemetry setting, including management of higher-acuity conditions and continuous monitoring. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details
- Schedule: 12-hour Nights shifts; minimum 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Current active compact RN license; Associate Degree or Certificate; Basic Life Support (BLS) (AHA); Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) (AHA); National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS); Tele interpretation ability (including passing unit tele test); ability to initiate and titrate insulin, heparin, and cardiac drips; initiate/titrate therapies for stepdown/PCU patients; must have recent Electronic Prescribing Information (EPIC) charting experience (with completion of a checkoff class as required).
- Preferred Qualifications: Peripheral intravenous (PIV) insertion; stable home ventilator experience; chest tube/indwelling drain management; continuous bladder irrigation (CBI); stable drips such as furosemide (lasix) and pantoprazole (protonix); blood product administration; continuous Bi-level Positive Airway Pressure (BiPAP); drain management; neutropenic precautions.
- Responsibilities: Provide stepdown/PCU patient care with strong assessment and critical thinking skills; manage continuous monitoring and tele interpretation responsibilities; perform clinical interventions including insulin, heparin, and cardiac drip initiation and titration; support care for patient populations including drips (insulin, heparin, cardiac), sepsis, congestive heart failure (CHF), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), cirrhosis, dementia, and post-surgical urology, abdominal, and orthopedic patients; may be required to precept students and new hires.
- Float: Float rotation may be required within the skillset, with potential cross-campus float to nearby locations; mid-shift float within the same campus is possible.
- Additional Information: Weekend and holiday coverage includes every third weekend and every other holiday. COVID-19 vaccination is not required, though this is subject to change. GSA hours are not guaranteed during the week of orientation; guaranteed set hours per week apply except during holidays when the unit is closed. Three call-ins can result in termination.
