Job Summary: Charlotte, North Carolina Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical with Telemetry)
A Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical with Telemetry) position is available with the organization in a MedSurg/Tele environment supporting patients with conditions including sepsis, respiratory illnesses, gastrointestinal disorders, infections, liver failure, and AKI/CKD. The role includes providing general Med/Tele nursing care, supporting telemetry needs by interpreting cardiac rhythms, and assisting with complex clinical tasks. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day.
Job Details:
- Shift: Nights (12 hours); Minimum Hours Per Week: 36.0
- Schedule: Weekend rotation every other; no call for travelers; travelers work 75% of holidays.
- Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS); ability to complete required role-specific clinical skills for MedSurg/Tele; minimum 2 years Med/Tele Registered Nurse experience (Resource Team).
- Preferred Qualifications: Stroke experience.
- Float: Float rotation may be required within the region and scope of practice, with potential floating to all facilities in the applicable regional set as region needs change by requisition; decline if not agreeable.
- Responsibilities: Provide MedSurg/Tele nursing care, including stroke-related care and cardiac rhythm interpretation; perform or assist with trach care, peripheral intravenous (PIV) starts, chest tube management, nasogastric (NGT) placement, and drain/tube management (including Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, and foley insertion/management); administer and manage patient-controlled analgesia (PCA) pumps and medication infusions including cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, and intravenous fluids (IVF); support medication infusion management and related bedside monitoring needs.
- Orientation: Departmental orientation includes 2 days.
- Additional Information: The role may include coverage support such as variable certified nursing assistant (CNA) ratios and availability of resource nursing support; phlebotomy supports peripheral blood draws only.
