Job Summary:
The registered nurse (RN) specializing in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) is responsible for delivering quality patient care by adhering to the nursing care plan. This role involves supervising Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees, while ensuring patient safety and care standards are maintained. The position is based in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with a focus on providing compassionate, safe, and effective nursing care in a fast-paced medical environment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Days shift, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 48 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid BLS certification prior to first shift; valid ACLS certification prior to first shift (CIRH only); minimum two (2) years of bedside clinical experience; ICU experience; current Pennsylvania state nursing license; current CPR certification; relevant educational background as a registered nurse.
• Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU); additional certifications related to cardiac or critical care nursing.
• Additional Information: Performs a nursing assessment on all patients within 8 hours of admission, forming the basis of individualized care plans. Responsible for timely and accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient responses. Initiates discharge planning from the day of admission and provides patient education for discharge readiness. Communicates patient status changes effectively to support continuous and safe care. Provides supervision and delegation for ancillary staff, promotes a safe work environment, and participates in team-building activities to foster a positive work atmosphere. Assumes charge responsibilities as requested following orientation. Actively pursues professional growth through continuing education and self-study to enhance clinical skills.
