Job Summary:
A Labor and Delivery Nurse position is available in Santa Rosa, California. The role involves providing specialized care within the Labor and Delivery Department, supporting high-risk antepartum patients, and effectively managing labor and postpartum cases. Candidates are required to bring their valid California license on the first day of assignment.
Job Details:
- Location: Santa Rosa, California
- Shift Hours: 12-hour night shifts
- Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
- Required Qualifications: Valid California license in hand, 2 years of experience in Labor and Delivery, certifications including Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Association of Womens Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN) Advanced and Intermediate certifications, Basic Life Support (BLS), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
- Certifications: ACLS, AWHONN Advanced, AWHONN Intermediate, BLS, NRP
- Equipment and Skills: Ability to perform anticoagulation therapy, manage antihypertensive medications, circulate for C-section procedures, handle high-risk antepartum patients, administer insulin drips, follow isolation precautions, manage magnesium sulfate therapy, maintain central lines (CVC / PICC), perform sterile vaginal exams, triage obstetrical patients, and use intrauterine pressure catheters (IUPC) for placement and calibration.
- Patient Population: Neonates and adults, with a daily census of approximately 12 patients.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Labor and Delivery, with prior EMR experience using Epic charting system.
- Additional Requirements: Willingness to work two of the three major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year). References covering 1 year (6 months for CNAs) within the last 3 years are required.
- Scheduling and Staffing: Night shifts, patient ratios of 3:1, with a total of 10 beds in the unit.
- Orientation: 36 hours of orientation.
- Float: May float between hospital units or to nearby affiliate hospitals.
- Holidays: Traveler must be willing to work 2 out of the 3 major holidays.
- Other Notes: RTO (Request for Time Off) must be included at the time of submission; references must be provided; supports high-risk obstetrical care; strong precepting skills a plus.
