Job Summary:
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) RN position is located in Charlotte, North Carolina. This role involves providing specialized care for critically ill neonates in a high-acuity environment. Candidates are expected to bring their license on the first day and should have at least two years of experience working in Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU settings. The position requires flexibility to float to other pediatric units as needed.
Job Details:
- Location: Charlotte, North Carolina
- Shift Hours: 12-hour shifts, with schedules from 6:45 AM to 7:15 PM or 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM, every 6 weeks based on unit needs
- Required Qualifications: Valid RN license, BLS (Basic Life Support), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), minimum of 2 years of strong Level 3 and/or Level 4 NICU experience, EPIC EMR experience, comfortable in a high acuity, fast-paced environment
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with EVDs, Camino device (ICP and temperature monitoring device), management of critical care vasoactive drips, invasive lines, CRRT, and ECMO; pediatric float experience
- Schedule: Night shifts, working 36 hours per week, including weekend rotations (2 Fridays and 2 Mondays every 6 weeks) and every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday); no scheduled call, but holiday work required as scheduled, with unit coverage on the day before, day of, and after holidays
- Additional Information: The NICU cares for patients with diagnoses such as Respiratory Distress Syndrome, Congenital Heart Defects, IVH, NEC, NAS, and TORCH infections. Nurse-to-patient ratios vary based on acuity, ranging from 1:1 to 1:3. Support staff includes unit secretaries, charge nurses, resource nurses, intensivists, residents, APPs, and more. Certified equipment includes EPIC EMR, Alaris and Medfusion pumps, Phillips monitors, and ultrasound technology. Floating within neonatal and pediatric units may be required unless prior experience is in those populations. Orientation is 2 days within the department. Scrubs are navy or white, with a Bare Below Elbow dress code.
