Description

Job Summary:
The operating room (OR) specialist position is located in an acute care hospital that serves as a Level I trauma center in Springfield, Illinois. This role involves providing specialized surgical support across a variety of service lines, with a focus on trauma and general surgery. Candidates are required to bring their active Illinois license on the first day of the assignment. This position requires a minimum of three years of operating room experience.

  • Hours per Week: 40 hours
  • Start Date: 07/20/2026
  • Required Qualifications: Active Illinois license (in hand or in application process), BLS certification, minimum of 3 years' OR nursing experience, Cerner charting system experience preferred.
  • Preferred Qualifications: CNOR certification.
  • Additional Information: The role involves working with all service lines except cardiovascular (CV). Candidates must have general OR and trauma experience, including Level I trauma exposure. Candidate must have experience with procedures such as abdominal and vaginal hysterectomy, laparoscopic assisted cases, organ donation, and management of trauma cases including gunshot and stab wounds. The job requires participating in the care of adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Certifications: BLS required, CNOR preferred.
  • Schedule: 4 days per week, 10 hours per shift, starting at 6:45 AM and ending at 5:15 PM.
  • Additional Requirements: Candidates must submit 2-3 interview times upon submission, include SSN and DOB at the time of submittal, and adhere to vaccination policies (flu vaccine required unless medically or religiously exempt).
  • Additional Notes: Previous perm or PRN candidates must be separated for at least 12 months before applying as travelers. Candidates must have at least 3 years of OR experience and be proficient with Cerner charting system.
