Job Summary:
Psychiatric Unit Registered Nurse (RN) position in Louisville, KY. Candidates are required to bring their license on the first day. This role involves caring for adolescent patients with high-acuity conditions, including those with intellectual disabilities and aggressive behaviors. The RN will provide direct patient care, including de-escalation, IM injections, and managing multiple escalated patients simultaneously. The position requires physical holds, verbal de-escalation, and adherence to safety protocols.

• Required Qualifications: Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) obtained on site; valid nursing license; 6 months of experience in psychiatric or adolescent care; no specific education degree required; valid license must be brought upon start.
• Schedule: Three 12-hour shifts on the floor per week, with an additional floating shift.
• Float: Candidates should be comfortable floating throughout the unit and open to schedule/shift flexibility, understanding they may not remain on the same unit or shift consistently.
• Additional Information: Scrub color is Galaxy Blue; parking is free.
• Responsibilities include de-escalation, recognizing increased agitation proactively, managing multiple escalated patients and events of seclusion or restraints, and administering intramuscular injections.
• Candidates should have soft skills such as patience and compassion, and the ability to handle physical holds when necessary.
• Support within the department includes leadership support for safety, behavioral specialists, advanced practitioners, therapists, case managers, and security support with 24/7 video monitoring and code response resources.
