Description

Job Summary:
A Registered Nurse specializing in Labor and Delivery (L&D) is needed at a healthcare facility in Sacramento, California. This position involves providing comprehensive care in a high-risk, couplet care unit, handling all aspects of labor, delivery, and postpartum care. Candidates are required to bring their nursing license on the first day of employment. The role requires float capabilities to other Maternal and Baby units and the ability to circulate cesarean sections.

Job Details:

  • Location: Sacramento, California
  • Specialty: Labor and Delivery Department
  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts, starting at 6:45 PM, every other weekend, with rotating holidays and in-house floating rarely required.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid nursing license; Certifications including Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN-Advanced). Minimum of 2 years of experience in labor and delivery; experience in high-risk obstetric units preferred. Experience with reading and interpreting EKG strips on mothers in Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
  • Additional Information: Responsibilities include circulating cesarean sections, managing complex obstetric cases such as preterm labor, bleeding, inductions, and hypertensive disorders. Must be capable of floating to Maternal Bedside (MB) units and performing all duties from start to finish. No vents for respiratory equipment are required; monitoring includes fetal surveillance systems (GE Corometric monitors - Fetalink). The role includes coverage of OB hospitalist and neonatologist on call 24/7, with OB surgical techs on site.
  • Certifications required at submission: Copy of the drivers license to validate legal name; must have two supervisor references (one within 12 months and one within three years). Candidates must not have been directly employed by any facility associated with the organization within the past year, unless employed PRN through outside firms.
