Description
Job Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit Neurological (ICU Neuro) registered nurse (RN) position is located in Madison, Wisconsin. The role involves providing specialized care on an 18-bed neuro ICU that serves as a hub for critically ill adult patients with various neurological diagnoses, including stroke, subarachnoid hemorrhage, neurosurgical post-op care, and traumatic brain injury. The RN will work night shifts and is expected to demonstrate strong critical thinking, advanced neuro interventions, and a collaborative approach to patient care.
Job Details:
- Shift Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Valid Wisconsin (WI) or compact RN license, ACLS and BLS certifications, minimum of 2 years of recent inpatient RN experience in adult acute care, neuro ICU experience preferred, telemetering skills, and ability to pass a telemetry exam with strict criteria prior to start
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience with ICP or ventriculostomy management, neuro-specific procedures such as EVD and lumbar drains, and familiarity with healthcare technologies including FloTrac/Vigileo, CereLink, and hypothermia protocols
- Special Procedures/Unit Details: Care includes hemodynamic monitoring, ICP management, brain and spinal cord injury care, and ventilator management. The unit offers interdisciplinary support including respiratory services, radiology, therapy, and rapid response teams.
- Other Requirements: Candidate must pass a telemetry testing exam with a passing score of 80% or higher, with two attempts allowed. Local candidates within 50 miles are not accepted, and travelers are required to float as needed.
