Description

Job Summary:
Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) position available in Louisville, Kentucky. This role involves providing care in a specialized mental health unit with a focus on medical and psychiatric patient needs. The RN will support a high-acuity patient population, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe and effective care on night shifts.

Job Details:

Schedule: Night shifts, with every other weekend rotation, totaling 36 hours per week.
Required Qualifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, advanced Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training (training provided in orientation), and a valid nursing license. Minimum of 1 year of psychiatric experience; medical experience preferred.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with EMR systems such as Cerner, and proficiency in basic wound care, wound care, nasal cannula, bipap/cpap at night, stable trach management, and IV maintenance.
Support within the Department: Mental health technicians (2-4 per shift), recreational therapists, social workers, residents (Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM), in-house psychiatric support 24/7, vascular access team, respiratory therapy (RT) available 24/7, and neonatal electronic fetal monitoring (NEO) with advanced CPI training provided.
Technology/Equipment: Cerner electronic medical record system, Plum ICU Medical IV pump, Omnicell medication dispensing units, Phillips monitors, and unit-specific equipment.
Orientation: Facility and unit-specific training, including NEO and advanced CPI, with two shifts supported by preceptors.
Additional Information: The unit cares for patients with diagnoses such as mood disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, psychosis, and suicidal ideation. Nurse-to-patient ratio is approximately 3-4 RNs for 20 patients. Parking is free with badge access.
