Description

Job Summary:
A registered nurse position in the Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) has become available in an acute care facility located in Madison, Wisconsin. The role involves providing specialized nursing care in an IMC Acute Medical and Progressive Care unit as well as an IMC Thoracic unit, supporting patients with thoracic surgeries, lung and esophageal conditions, and other thoracic procedures. The nurse will work primarily during day and evening shifts, with every other weekend and some holidays required to ensure continuous patient care.

Job Details:

  • Location: 600 Highland Ave, Madison, WI 53792
  • Shift: Day/Evening, 12-hour shifts from 7:00am to 7:30pm, with a minimum of 36 hours per week
  • Required Qualifications: Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license or a compact RN license, at least 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty submitted to, certifications in ACLS and BLS, proficiency in accessing/managing ports, arterial line management, BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, cardiac telemetry, central line care/management, chest tube management, feeding tube care, heparin protocols, high flow nasal cannula management, interpretation of arterial blood gases and dysrhythmias, isolation precautions, IV insulin protocols, management of dysrhythmias, MS/Tele monitoring, nasal cannula, non-invasive airway management, oxygen and oxygen tank management, PCA, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, PICC line management, pre/post cardiac cath/surgery/hemodialysis, starting and maintaining IVs, surgical drains, telemetry monitoring, titrating vasoactive and insulin drips, use of Rapid Response/Code teams, and wound care/vac management.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Telemetry experience, experience with thoracic surgical patients, and ICU or IMC surgical post-op experience.
  • Additional Requirements: Pass /Fail Telemetry testing with strict criteria, including identification of lethal rhythms and heart block questions, with two attempts allowed. A certificate of completion of a cardiac interpretation review course must be submitted if failing twice.
  • Travel & Licensure: WI RN or compact RN license required, must be willing to work with IMC or general care patient population, and pass a telemetry exam prior to start.
  • Shift Time: 12-hour day/evening shifts from 7:00am to 7:30pm.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of acute care RN experience within the last 3 years in the relevant specialty.
  • Additional Info: Every other weekend and some holidays required.
