Job Summary
Operating Room (OR) Nurse in Madison, Wisconsin. This role involves providing specialized nursing care in a Level 1 trauma center, supporting various service lines including neuro, ortho, transplant, vascular, trauma, and emergency cases. The candidate will participate in perioperative patient care, facilitate surgical procedures, and ensure high standards of patient safety and quality.

Job Details

  • Shift Schedule: 12-hour shifts, starting on 08/24/2026, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license, BLS certification from the American Heart Association, at least 3 years of experience in operating room or perioperative nursing, experience with neuro, ortho, transplant, and vascular procedures, proficiency with Epic charting system, minimum of 2 years of recent acute care in the specialty, and passing scores on required telemetry exams.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in trauma, transplant, neuro, ortho, and endovascular service lines; experience in Level I trauma centers; previous charge nurse experience; familiarity with complex surgical procedures such as laparoscopic, endovascular, and emergency surgeries.
  • Certifications: BLS from the American Heart Association, RN license.
  • Patient Ratios: One patient per nurse during night shifts; daytime and weekend ratios vary based on case load.
  • Responsibilities: Collaborate with the multidisciplinary surgical team to plan and execute patient care, coordinate operating room activities for efficiency, support intraoperative procedures across multiple specialized service lines, float/circulate to all service lines including trauma and emergency cases, and ensure compliance with safety and procedural protocols.
  • Other Notes: Willingness to float across service lines required. Strives for proficiency in complex and emergency surgeries. Strict adherence to pass/fail testing including telemetry interpretation. No local candidates; travelers must reside 50 miles or more from the facility.
