Description
Job Summary:
Step Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN) position in Bismarck, North Dakota. This role involves providing specialized care to adult and geriatric patients with a variety of medical and cardiac conditions, including post-procedural care, respiratory support, and acute on chronic illnesses. The RN will perform patient monitoring, interpret strips, and manage titratable drips, contributing to a dynamic unit focused on both medical and telemetry care.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week, with day and night rotations (7 am 7 pm, 7 pm 7 am). Shift rotation will not exceed weekly changes.
- Required Qualifications: Valid license to submit, American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification, Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in a step down or telemetry setting.
- Preferred Qualifications: Epic experience, familiarity with telemetry, tele/monitor tech experience, and prior experience with adult and geriatric patient populations.
- Additional Information:
- Specializes in step down care with responsibilities including reading and interpreting telemetry strips, managing titratable infusions such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, Heparin, Nitro, Nipride, Lasix, and low-dose Dopamine.
- Nurses are expected to troubleshoot BiPap, trachs, and airvo devices, with telemetry techs available for monitor management.
- Nurse aides/patient care technicians are assigned, maintaining patient ratios around 1:4-5, with a goal of 1:10.
- Floats to additional units may be required as a help hand across various hospital areas, including Medical Services (MS) and Emergency Room (ER).
- Uniforms: scrubs provided in any color.
- Orientation includes two 12-hour shifts on the first weekend of hire, after which the nurse is on their own.
- The role begins on 07/27/2026, with an entry requirement of RTO (Reasonable Transportation Option) approval for up to 7 days within the 13-week contract period.
