Description
Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Specialist position at an acute care hospital in Springfield, Illinois. This role involves providing advanced surgical nursing support across various service lines, excluding cardiovascular procedures. The selected clinician will be responsible for assisting with laparoscopic, general, trauma, neurology, orthopedic, plastic, transplant, and urology cases, with an emphasis on trauma and laparoscopic procedures. The position offers flexibility within a 13-26 week assignment, with Traveler's choice of schedule and responsibilities aligned with a Level I trauma center.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Days shift, 10-hour shifts, minimum of 40 hours per week, starting 09/14/2026
- Required Qualifications: Minimum 2.5 years of operating room experience, current BLS certification, Illinois licensure in active status or in application process, at least Level I trauma experience, general surgery experience including appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair, mastectomy, thyroidectomy, Whipple, and laparoscopic assisted cases. Trauma experience must include amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, MVA, and emergency management skills such as code response, fire safety, and latex allergy management.
- Preferred Qualifications: CNOR certification, Cerner Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience, and experience with Da Vinci Xi Surgical System and Mazor Robot.
- Additional Information: Will work with all service lines except cardiovascular, supporting all major surgical procedures listed. Candidate must reside at least 50 miles from the facility, and current Illinois license is required for application. On-call requirement is once weekly, with minimal frequency, and work involves float within scope if needed. The facility is a 562-bed acute care hospital with Level I trauma accreditation, offering multidisciplinary support including IV teams, respiratory services, radiology, and social services. Candidates will need to complete orientation modules prior to start, and adherence to compliance verifications such as background check and licensure is mandatory.
