Description

Job Summary:
An ICU (Intensive Care Unit) registered nurse position is available in a healthcare facility located in Omaha, Nebraska. The role involves providing critical care to adult and pediatric patients with various diagnoses, including neurological, respiratory, septic, and surgical conditions. The position requires collaboration with a multidisciplinary team in a fast-paced environment and adherence to clinical standards.

Job Details:

  • Shift Schedule: 12-hour day shifts from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM, with the schedule created by management based on unit needs.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid licensure to practice as a registered nurse, minimum of 2 years recent ICU experience, certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS).
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience handling adult and pediatric neuro patients, proficiency in interpreting telemetry strips, and experience with advanced monitoring and titratable drips such as vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics.
  • Additional Information: This is a high-volume, tertiary-care unit requiring nurses to have strong critical thinking and teamwork skills. Nurses will participate in unit-specific orientation consisting of two shifts. The facility operates on a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:1-2 in ICU, with additional responsibilities including troubleshooting ventilators and interpreting telemetry. Candidates must be willing to float to all inpatient units excluding Maternity/NICU. Floating to other hospital units is required, except for maternity and NICU.
  • Special Notes: Candidates must comply with the institution's nail policy, possess a valid drivers license, and be capable of reading telemetry strips. The unit values positive attitudes, proactive communication, and teamwork. RTO (Request for Time Off) must be specified upfront; extensions will not be approved.
