Description
Job Summary:
The Labor and Delivery (L&D) Nurse position in Maryland involves providing specialized care within a community hospitals Labor and Delivery department. The role requires delivering high-quality care for patients across various age groups, including neonates, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics, during night shifts. This position emphasizes clinical expertise in obstetric and neonatal care and offers an opportunity to work in a supportive, fast-paced environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Nights, 12-hour shifts, minimum of 36 hours per week
- Required Qualifications: Current Maryland Registered Nurse (RN) license or compact license; BLS, ACLS, NRP, NCC C-EFM certifications in hand at time of submission; 0 years minimum experience required; valid in Maryland or compact state; strong clinical skills in obstetric and neonatal care preferred
- Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in labor and delivery, Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), or community hospital setting; experience with Epic charting system; additional certifications such as AWHONN intermediate or advanced may be considered as continuing education but do not meet State Electronic Fetal Heart Monitoring (EFM) requirements
- Patient Ratio: 2 patients per nurse during nights and weekends; float within all areas of the Labor and Delivery and Mother-Baby/ postpartum departments as needed
- Additional Information: Nurses are expected to float within the scope of obstetric and neonatal care, including assisting with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, neonatal assessments, and postpartum care. The facility cares for approximately 50-60 deliveries per month. All staff must adhere to RTO policies, with a maximum of 7 days request allowed, and must be comfortable working in all areas of the department without restrictions. The role requires compliance with ongoing onboarding and certification updates.
