Description
Job Summary:
The Operating Room Open Heart (OR OH) registered nurse position is located in Madison, Wisconsin. This role involves working in a high-volume, complex surgical environment specializing in cardiac procedures. The nurse will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure efficient patient care during various cardiac surgeries, including ECMO, CABG, LVAD, thoracic procedures, and robotic surgeries. Candidates must have recent acute care experience in similar settings and hold valid licensure and certifications.
Job Details:
- Schedule: Day shift, 12-hour shifts, from 06:40 AM to 07:10 PM with a potential of one shift from 09:40 AM to 10:10 PM biweekly. Weekday and weekend call required. Every 4-5th weekend from Friday to Monday morning call. Minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license or compact RN license, and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association. Minimum of 2 years of recent acute care experience in cardiothoracic surgery or a similar high-acuity environment within the last 3 years.
- Preferred Qualifications: Experience in high-caliber complex surgeries, level 1 hospital experience, and prior work in inpatient RN roles. A telemetry exam with a passing score of 80% or higher on two attempts is required prior to start.
- Additional Information: Must have completed two years of acute care experience within the last 3 years in the specialty they are submitting to. Pass/fail testing with strict criteria applies, including adult and pediatric cardiac interpretation exams. The assignment duration is from 09/14/2026 to 01/11/2027. Local candidates are not accepted; travel is required within 50 miles of the facility.
