Description
Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position in Omaha, Nebraska. This role involves working in a fast-paced, high-acuity trauma center that is a Level I Trauma Center and Pediatric Certified by the state. The ER handles trauma, sepsis, chest pain, shortness of breath, strokes with TPA, and other critical conditions, requiring skilled nursing care and interpretation of patient data. It offers opportunities for diverse clinical experience in a dynamic environment.
Job Details:
- Schedule: 12-hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM, 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, 3:00 PM to 3:00 AM, and 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
- Required Qualifications: Valid provider license, BLS (Basic Life Support), ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale), TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course), and a minimum of 2 years of recent ER experience. Candidates must possess a drivers license, be within 50 miles of the facility, and have no prior full-time, part-time, or PRN employment with organizations associated with the healthcare provider group.
- Preferred Qualifications: NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program, preferred).
- Additional Information:
- Must pass/fail exam during orientation with a score of 90% to continue.
- Must adhere to fingernail policy prohibiting artificial nails.
- Will float to observation units and freestanding ER at least once a week.
- Orientation includes 1 week of onboarding, 2 shifts at a secondary location, and 1 shift at a different site.
- RTO (Reasonable Time Off) requests are allowed upfront for 7 or fewer days per 13-week contract.
- Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment.
- The facility maintains a 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio in zones, 1:6 in Fast Track, 1:5 in Observation, and 1:1 in ICU/Trauma.
- RNs are required to read and interpret their own patient strips.
