Description

Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) position available in Shelby, North Carolina. The role involves providing high-quality care to patients during labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care within a 241-bed Level 3 Trauma teaching hospital. The RN will support various patient needs, including labor management, cesarean sections, pre-operative care, post-anesthesia care, triage, resuscitation of newborns, and epidural and Pitocin management.

Job Details:

  • Location: 201 East Grover Street, Shelby, NC 28150
  • Schedule: 12-hour shifts, from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with a cycle of every 6 weeks
  • Required Qualifications: Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Electronic Fetal Heart Monitoring (EFM), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP); valid licensure in nursing; at least 2 years of labor and delivery experience; ability and willingness to work in an LDRP setting
  • Patient Types and Ratios: Labor, delivery, postpartum, and newborn care; RN-to-patient ratios of 1:2 during inactive labor, 1:1 during active labor, and 1:3-4 for couplets; support staff including charge nurse, resource nurse, and hospitalist for newborn care; telemetry monitoring and fetal monitoring technology utilized
  • Supporting Department: 24/7 support from charge nurse, hospitalist team, and RT within hospital; phlebotomy for peripheral blood draws; ultrasound, scales, and ambulation assist devices available
  • Floating Requirements: Flexibility to float within region 3 facilities (Cleveland, Kings Mtn, Lincoln, Central Division including main campus, Mercy, and LCH) as needed, with appropriate compensation for mid-shift travel between facilities.
  • Orientation: Two days dedicated to Neonatal Electronic Observation (NEO) department and unit-specific training
  • Additional Notes: Scrub color uniform is green; parking is free; team-oriented unit culture; possibility of being called back for low census or holidays; up to six days of requested time off (RTO) can be approved, excluding holidays.
