Description

Job Summary:
Labor and Delivery Nurse in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This position involves caring for patients in a high-risk Labor and Delivery unit, with responsibilities including circulating in the operating room for cesarean sections. The role requires adherence to obstetric care standards and effective management of antepartum and postpartum patients within a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit setting.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Night shift, 12 hours per shift, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. This schedule includes working every other week with on-call hours totaling 18 per 6 weeks.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid license to submit, BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), and at least one year of high-risk Labor and Delivery experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience circulating in the operating room during cesarean sections, familiarity with AWHONN guidelines for ratios, and ability to float to postpartum.
  • Additional Information: The unit handles approximately 8 to 12 births per day, maintains 22 labor and delivery beds, and includes two operating room suites for cesarean sections. The team is supported by obstetricians, neonatologists (not in-house 24/7), APPs (Advanced Practice Providers), and in-house anesthesia. RNs are required to read their own fetal monitor strips on GE Corometrics electronic fetal monitoring systems. Scrubs are provided by the hospital, and orientation includes a minimum of one unit-specific shift.
