Description

Job Summary:

The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) registered nurse position is based in a facility located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The role involves providing critical care to patients with a variety of complex conditions, including sepsis, respiratory failure, renal failure, myocardial infarctions, pulmonary embolism, and pneumonia. The position requires flexibility to float across ICU, progressive care, and medical-surgical units on a mixed acuity floor, with a focus on critically ill and progressive patients.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: Nights shift, 12-hour shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week.
  • Required Qualifications: Valid Indiana RN license; at least 1.5 years of ICU experience (preferred 2 years); ACLS (American Heart Association) certification; BLS (American Heart Association) certification; Triage experience in mixed acuity unit applicable, with ability to care for ventilated and critically ill patients; experience with procedures such as intubations, line placements, and titrating IV drips.
  • Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Level 1 or Level 2 facility settings; travel experience; ability to float to other ICU, progressive, and Medsurg units.
  • Additional Information: The unit includes a Medical ICU with 24 beds and a Progressive Care section with 12 beds. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:2 or 1:3 for ICU patients and 1:3 or 1:4 for progressive care, adjusted for transfers. A one-day onboarding process through workforce development is provided, including policy review and Epic electronic medical record training. The dress code includes Caribbean blue scrubs, with jackets in black, white, or Caribbean blue. The floating to other units is expected as part of the schedule.
