Description

Job Summary:
Medical Surgical Nurse on the island of Hawaii. This role involves floating between various medical and surgical units, providing patient care on a 12-hour night shift basis. The position requires flexibility to work across different units and adhere to professional nursing standards in a dynamic healthcare environment.

Job Details:

  • Schedule: 12-hour night shifts from 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM; scheduled for 36 hours per week following orientation.
  • Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a valid Hawaii license by the start of the assignment. A minimum of 0 years of experience; certifications including BLS and ACLS are required. Additional certifications such as PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, and ENPC are preferred.
  • Required Skills and Certifications: BLS, ACLS; preferred: PALS, Procedural Sedation, TNCC, ENPC.
  • Equipment Utilized: Meditech electronic medical record (EMR), pyxis medication dispensing system, wound vac, chest tubes.
  • Units/Departments: Medical Unit with 77 beds, Laulima Surgical Acute Unit with 18 beds, Cardiovascular Unit with 15 beds (rarely used).
  • Nurse to Patient Ratios: Medical - 1:6 during days and evenings, 1:8 during nights; Laulima - 1:6; Cardiovascular - 1:4. Ratios may vary due to unexpected leaves.
  • Dress Code: Professional nursing attire, including clean scrubs.
  • Orientation: Specific training and orientation provided per unit.
  • Additional Information: Candidates must arrive the Thursday before the start date for an employee health appointment. Please do not accept the start date if unable to arrive on time.
