Description

Job Summary:
The Intensive Care Unit Float RN position is located in Centennial, Colorado. This role involves providing critical care across multiple ICU units within designated zones, with an emphasis on flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment. The position offers valuable experience in a variety of ICU settings and requires the ability to float between different units as assigned.

Job Details:

  • Shift: Nights, 12 hours per shift
  • Schedule: The schedule is made out by leadership for 6 weeks at a time, with 6-9 weekend shifts in a 6-week cycle. All time off requests need to be submitted prior to starting the assignment.
  • Minimum Hours Per Week: 36 hours
  • Start Date: 08/03/2026
  • Certifications Required: BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA), NIHSS
  • Qualifications:
    • 2 years of ICU experience required
    • Prior travel experience preferred
    • First-time travelers need 3+ years of ICU experience and Epic EHR system experience
  • Experience or Skills:
    • Must be comfortable titrating all critical drips, including pressors, sedation, paralytics, antiarrhythmics, heparin, insulin, and more
    • No home base facility; must float within Zone 1 around Colorado Springs, Colorado, covering several hospitals within a 60-mile radius
    • Must have current license to submit application
    • Provide two valid references upon submission
  • Responsibilities:
    • Provide patient care in general and combination ICUs, including MICU, SICU, TICU, CVICU, etc.
    • Read and interpret telemetry strips independently
    • Assist with troubleshooting respiratory equipment such as vents, Cpap, Bipap, and High Flow systems
    • Float between different ICU units and other acuity levels as needed, including PCU/Stepdown and MS-Tele
    • Participate in unit orientation and training as scheduled
  • Additional Information:
    • Unit notes specify candidate interviewing process and floating expectations within Zone 1, which includes multiple hospitals around Colorado Springs
    • Hospital can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13-week assignment
    • No monitor tech; RNs required to interpret their own telemetry strips
    • Facility uses EPIC electronic charting system
